Dreams of a Scientist: Lessons from the Sea is a children’s picture book in progress that will take readers on an oceanic adventure full of scientific discovery. This book will:
Educate readers on recent discoveries that active scientists have made about incredible marine animals
Break stereotypes by introducing readers to real-life marine scientists from different backgrounds and in different career stages
By highlighting real-life scientists from historically excluded groups, this story will provide readers with a diverse set of role models and focus on highlighting historically excluded groups in marine science. Margo’s adventure and the scientist’s autobiographies will emphasize our message that anyone whose passion drives them to protect the ocean, or whose curiosity drives them to discover more about the sea and the animals that inhabit it, can be a marine scientist, regardless of their upbringing, identity, or physical attributes.
